Johnny: ''what were you doing then?''

...Teacher: ''I was talking to God!''

Then the next day, Johnny fell asleep as well.

Japan toilet maker unveils 'poop-powered' motorbike

Japan toilet maker TOTO has unveiled a motorcycle with a nose-wrinkling difference - it's 'poop-powered'.

Billed as the world's first waste-powered vehicle, the three-wheeler has a toilet in place of a regular seat and a huge paper roll at the back.

TOKYO (AFP) - Japan's best-known toilet maker on Wednesday unveiled a "poop-powered" motorcycle that can travel as far as 300km on a tank filled with animal waste.

Billed as the world's first waste-powered vehicle, the three-wheeler has a toilet in place of a regular seat and huge paper roll at the back.

But as a young female model climbed aboard for a test drive Wednesday, toilet giant TOTO was quick to point out that she would not supply the "gas".

"The biogas it uses as fuel is not made from human waste. It's made from livestock waste and sewage," Kenji Fujita, a company spokesman, told reporters in a Tokyo suburb.

Crescent Lake in Dunhuang China

Crescent Lake in Dunhuang China

Crescent lake also called Yueyaquan in Chinese is a beautiful crescent-shaped lake located 6 km south of the Dunhuang city in the arms of the Echoing-Sand Dune. The Crescent Lake's water is so pure and clear that it looks like an emerald jewel in the sand. Along the side of the Crescent Lake is a pagoda in traditional Han Chinese architecture.

A street lined with souvenir stalls leads up from the entrance to the complex. Many tourists ride camels here, organized by the complex operators, to get to the summit of the sand dunes.

The lake has been in existence for at least two thousands, but for the last few decades it has been gradually disappearing. According to measurement made in 1960, the average depth of the lake was 4 to 5 meters, with maximum depth 7.5 meters. In the early 1990s, the area of the lake had shrunken to only 1.37-acre (5,500 m2) with average depth of 0.9 meter (maximum 1.3 meter). Crescent Lake has dropped more than 25 feet in the last three decades while the underground water table elsewhere in the area has fallen by as much as 35 feet.

The General Sherman Tree

The General Sherman is a giant sequoia tree located in the Giant Forest of Sequoia National Park in Tulare County, California. By volume, it is the largest known living single stem tree on Earth. With a height of 83.8 metres (275 ft), a diameter of 7.7 metres (25 ft), an estimated bole (trunk) volume of 1,487 cubic metres (52,513 cu ft), and an estimated age of 2,300 – 2,700 years.

In 1879 this tree was named after American Civil War general, William Tecumseh Sherman, by naturalist James Wolverton, who had served as a lieutenant in the 9th Indiana Cavalry under Sherman. In 1931, following comparisons with the nearby General Grant tree, General Sherman was identified as the largest tree in the world. One result of this process was that wood volume became widely accepted as the standard for establishing and comparing the size of different trees.

Star Wars Speeder Bike IRL

A California-based company called Aerofex have uploaded a video to YouTube, below, showing footage of their hoverbike which uses a ducted-fan to give it lift and is based on an abandoned design, due to stability issues, from the 1960s. The company added knee bars to address these issues which allow the vehicle to intuitively respond to the leaning of a human pilot, as they explain:

The pilot cruises in the direction he wishes to go with little conscious input or training. The vehicle takes cues from his intuitive movements and amplifies them aerodynamically to maintain his level flight path. By applying throttle, he can increase altitude and speed.

But before anyone gets too excited, the company have told Innovation News Daily that they’re not planning to release a manned hoverbike just yet, instead they’ll concentrate on developing an unmanned drone version. Spoilsports. Still, if we all get a petition going online then maybe we can sway them.

All aboard! Mother swan takes babies under her wing for trip across the pond !!

There comes a time on every family outing when the little ones can go no further and demand to be carried the rest of the way.Luckily for these six fluffy cygnets, Mummy was happy to oblige. One by one, under her watchful eye, the brood clambered aboard her back for a ride. Having checked all were present and correct, the mother swan gently tucked back her wings to stop them falling off before gliding back to her nest.

Magic Mountain Hotel

The Magic Mountain Hotel !!
Location: Huilo Huilo, Chile !!

The Magic Mountain Hotel in located in Huilo Huilo, a private Natural Reserve in the Los Rios region of Chile. The antique appearance ends with the exterior however, as the interiors are done up in luxury. There are only 9 rooms, named after bird species found in the area. Each of them overlooks the thick forest and wildlife outside, including toucans, iguanas, pumas and lizards. Guests even get a glimpse of a real-life volcano from the hotel – the enormous Arenal Volcano.

Outside the rooms the special services provided to guests are definitely worth a mention. Hot tubs made out of huge tree trunks, overlooking the forest are a major tourist attraction at Magic Mountain, as is the world’s longest zip line running through the grounds

One man's dream become reality

The Crazy Camera Van

One night In the fall of 1993, a guy named Harrod Blank had a dream in which he covered his car with cameras and then drove around and took pictures of people on the streets. When he woke up the next morning he decided to build such a vehicle in reality. With the help of Dan Lohaus and some other friends, Harrod spent the next two years designing and building the van. With a
lot of trial and error, the van was completed in 1995 and made it’s debut voyage in April.

The front of the Camera Van features every Polaroid camera ever made. The driver’s side of the camera has Kodak Instamatic Cameras arranged to look like a giant Instamatic Camera. The back of the van has two monitors that play a repeating slideshow of the Camera Van’s photography. The passenger side has a giant film strip created using four color monitors.

MIRACLE OF LIFE - A MUST READ

Twin girls, Brielle and Kyrie, were born 12 weeks ahead of their due date. Needing intensive care, they were placed in separate incubators.

Kyrie began to gain weight and her health stabilized. But Brielle, born only 2 lbs, had trouble breathing, heart problems and other complications. She was not expected to live.

Their nurse did everything she could to make Brielle’s health better, but nothing she did was helping her. With nothing else to do, their nurse went against hospital policy and decided to place both babies in the same incubator.

She left the twin girls to sleep and when when she returned she found a sight she could not believe. She called all the nurses and doctors and this is what they saw (refer to the picture above)

Twin sisters are born and are completely different races

Twin sisters are born and are completely different races

21-year-old Kylie Hodgson of Nottingham, England, is half-black, half-white. So's her partner, 19-year-old Remi Horder. Back in 2006, they conceived twins. And when the twin girls were born, one was black... and one was white. Remee is blonde and white; Kian is black.

Since both Kylie and Remi are mixed race, when the two eggs were conceived, the one that became Remee inherited all of the white genes from the family, and Kian inherited all of the black genes.

Morocco's Climbing Goats

Goats on trees are found mostly only in Morocco. The goats climb them because they like to eat the fruit of the argan tree, which is similar to an olive. Farmers actually follow the herds of goats as they move from tree to tree. Not because it is so strange to see goats in trees and the farmers like to point and stare, but because the fruit of the tree has a nut inside, which the goats can't digest, so they spit it up or excrete it which the farmers collect.

The nut contains 1-3 kernels, which can be ground to make argan oil used in cooking and cosmetics. This oil has been collected by the people of the region for hundreds of years, but like many wild and useful things these days, the argan tree is slowly disappearing due to over-harvesting for the tree's wood and overgrazing by goats.

High Tech Spy

Is this a mosquito?

No. It's an insect spy drone for urban areas, already in production, funded by the US Government. It can be remotely controlled and is equipped with a camera and a microphone.

It can land on you, and it may have the potential to take a DNA sample or leave RFID tracking nanotechnology on your skin. It can fly through an open window, or it can attach to your clothing until you
take it in your home.

Apes attack!!!

Yosemite National Park 4,737 ft (1,444 m) above the valley floor

The person sitting on that ledge is Alex Honnold. He’s been proclaimed the best free soloist (i.e., climbs without ropes) in the world. The startling image above (posted to Reddit and tracked down to photographer Tim Kemple) shows Mr. Honnold midway up Half Dome, an incredibly challenging granite dome in Yosemite National Park 4,737 ft (1,444 m) above the valley floor.
For us mere mortals this appears as absolute insanity. How can someone climb such incredibly difficult faces without a rope? If you’re still intrigued, I highly recommend the 15-minute special 60 minutes did with Alex. Here is the video:
