Hundreds removed their clothes for airtickets in London

Dublin-based Aer Lingus was hoping for at least a thousand people to turn up for its event promoting new routes from Gatwick airport, but only around half of that number showed up scantily clad in the warm London weather to take advantage of the offer of two free air tickets. Metropolitan Police said the crowd numbered around 500.

The nearly-naked participants converged at London’s Jubilee Gardens, using strategically-placed shamrocks to maintain a bit of modesty. Stewards led the group on a route passing the London Eye, along the Thames.A spokesperson for Aer Lingus noted that there were some participants who defied the police warning that they would be fined for being completely naked.

“Once out of sight of the cautious police, many of the participants ignored police warnings and stripped off for the bewildered, but eager, onlooking crowds, who captured the event on their camera phones,” he added.
